Abstract
Neuro Assistance Quality of Life - Houston Expansion

NAF has been operating in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex for ten years. In December, 2018, NAF will begin an expansion into the Houston area. The first year of expansion will include clients from TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital (TIRRmh) only and collaboration with RSVP, a local nonprofit already working with TIRRmh to provide rehab and mobility equipment to SCI individuals. NAF will provide assistance in critical areas of need in the Houston SCI community not currently covered by RSVP. Our support would include, but not be limited to, home modifications, driving evaluations/lessons, clean catheters, vehicle modifications/repairs and assistive technology.

NAF will provide essential assistance to SCI individuals to ensure their independence. In order to improve the quality of life for those living with SCI, NAF will provide individualized assistance customized to each client. NAF will ensure that their homes are accessible, they can drive if able, they have the medical supplies they need and the technology necessary to live to their highest potential. In the first year of expansion, NAF estimates that 40-50 SCI individuals referred from TIRRmh will be helped.

NAF's assistance falls into the categories of Assistive Technology, Employment and Independent Living. By providing all of our specialized assistance, each SCI individual will receive help he or she needs to live full and productive lives. NAF helps those who are falling through the cracks of all other assistance and is the agency of last resort to keep them from being institutionalized. (CHN: COandI chn:wdg)
