Abstract
Southern California Wheelchair Tennis Community Engagement and Growth Initiative.
The project will provide resources, coach and athlete training, and innovative programming to attract new SCI wheelchair athletes and their families to tennis. Through strategic partnerships and alliances the new programs will further enhance current offerings within the existing wheelchair tennis community. Program promotion will be done through digital, social and print platforms, and via cross promotions with strategic partners.
With these resources, participants will find greater access to fitness, recreation, competition and social engagement. The USTA Southern California’s new Carol Kimmelman Athletic and Academic Campus in Carson, CA will be a hub and conduit of section wheelchair activity, with ongoing programs and special events managed by the internal USTA staff.
Wheelchair students, along with siblings and parents from LAUSD and adjacent school districts will be invited to participate in clinics at the Kimmelman Campus, aligning with LA84’s Play Equity initiative. (CHN: COandI chn:wdg)
