2019 Competitive Adaptive Sports Program

Funder: Craig H Neilsen Foundation

Funding period
USD 49 K
Funding amount
1) 2020 Competitive Adaptive Sports Program
2) Strengthen our program, with the purchase of adult sized sports wheelchairs, a medium sized trailer with modifications conducive to storing and transporting sports wheelchairs and related equipment to and from disability awareness events, tournaments and practices. Additionally, traveling to additional tournaments across the region and country. We’ve found it more difficult to raise money for our adult teams, yet the better the team, the more expensive the travel costs for tournaments as most of the teams within our driving window (8 hours one-way). The most common disability group in the adult age-range that has shown immediate interest in adaptive sports are individuals with traumatic SCI.
3) Expected Outcomes
a) Increased adult focused disability awareness events
b) Send at least 1 adult team and 1 women's team to NWBA National Tournament (only women's team went this past season)
c)Obtain medium sized trailer to transport and store adaptive sports equipment.
d) Attend more out of conference competitive competitions
e) Increase our member population of traumatic SCI members as a result of items a-d. (CHN: COandI chn:wdg)
